Newcastle United news: PiF backed to green light 'incredible' Eden Hazard bid after update

Newcastle United’s owners could sanction a bid for Real Madrid star Eden Hazard.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ January plans.

According to Spanish outlet El Nacional (7 November), Real Madrid have finally lost faith in Hazard, 31, and could be set to sanction his exit.

The report claims Newcastle and Aston Villa are said to be the most likely options for the winger.

Hazard’s current deal at the Bernabeu runs until 2024.

McManus insists Hazard is still an “incredible” player but doubts Eddie Howe would want him at St James’ Park.

“It would certainly raise eyebrows, wouldn’t it?” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“We all know how good Hazard is, on his day he is incredible. The problem is it hasn’t been his day for two or three years now.

“You look at Newcastle, they play with such intensity, a high-pressing game that really takes it out of you. You need to be able to graft, can Hazard do that?

“I don’t see him as the kind of player Eddie Howe would want. Maybe it will be one of those where the ownership sign it all off then the manager says no.

“I don’t see Howe wanting him. That will probably be the end of it. If it was the Hazard of a few years ago then yes, absolutely.

“But we haven’t seen that player for a long time now.”

Hazard has made three La Liga appearances this season though he was only in from the start once.

He has played a total of 229 minutes in all competitions this term.
