Newcastle United set for boost in ‘attracting players’ as Keith Wyness views training ground plans
Newcastle United could be about to build one of the best training grounds in the Premier League, according to Keith Wyness.
The former Everton and Aston Villa chief revealed to Football Insider that he has seen plans for what Newcastle’s new training ground could look like.
The PIF have been criticised for their delayed decision-making, with a new state-of-the-art training ground having been discussed since they took over the club in 2021.
Many of Newcastle’s Premier League rivals have invested in their training facilities over recent years in a bid to make themselves more attractive to transfer targets.
Newcastle have been backed financially by the PIF, but there has been criticism that more needs to be done if they are to fulfil their ambitions on Tyneside.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that a new training ground could be a major step forward for Newcastle.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states that it would remove the perception that the club’s facilities are not as good as their rivals.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’ve seen artists’ impressions of a campus at Woolsington Hall, which looks fantastic.
“It really is. If that’s the case, then it will be one of the best there is in the UK. And the rap has always been that players didn’t want to go to Newcastle because the training facilities weren’t that great.
“They were always away from London. But a campus like this would make a big difference in terms of being able to attract players, if it’s the one that I’ve seen.”
Fresh target emerges in search for striker
It is well known that Newcastle are in the market for a new striker this summer, amid the form of both Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade.
Sources have told Football Insider that PSG striker Goncalo Ramos is a target for Newcastle, and that the Ligue 1 club could be happy to sanction his departure.
The 24-year-old has hit six goals in Ligue 1 in just 12 starts for PSG this season, and could welcome the chance to become Newcastle’s first choice centre-forward.
PSG paid a hefty transfer fee to bring Ramos to the club from Benfica in 2024, so any deal may not come cheap for Newcastle.
