Newcastle United are closing in on four new signings in a stunning recruitment blitz ahead of the new season, Football Insider understands.

The north-east giants have agreed to sign winger Ryan Fraser on a free transfer after a breakthrough in talks and are also finalising the season-long loan capture of Arsenal defender Rob Holding.

Recruitment sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle are edging closer to signing Callum Wilson after leapfrogging rivals in the race, and are also confident of signing a new left-back.

The first two stars through the door are set to be Fraser and Holding after breakthroughs in the last 24 hours.

The Scotland international wide man, 26, is a free agent after quitting Bournemouth when his contract expired at the end of June.

Arsenal have given the green light for centre-back Holding, 24, to be loaned out following the £22m capture of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.

Newcastle are also in negotiations with Bournemouth over the landmark capture of striker Wilson, 28.

They have offered Matt Ritchie plus cash in a bid to land the England international ahead of their top-flight rivals including Aston Villa.

Significantly, Ritchie is keen on a move back to Bournemouth for personal reasons and this has helped give the north-east giants the edge in the race.

The fourth senior star to arrive at St James’ Park is likely to be a left-back.

Newcastle decided not to pursue 2019-20 loanee Danny Rose on a permanent deal but have a strong interest in £4m-valued PAOK defender Dimitrios Giannoulis.

In other news, Bruce has pulled the plug on Newcastle United senior star exit and set to hand him extended run in starting XI.
