Newcastle United urged to accept £75m Bayern Munich offer for Anthony Gordon: ‘They think he’d be another Harry Kane’
Newcastle United should accept any offers above £50million for Anthony Gordon, according to former Everton chief Keith Wyness.
Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, dropped his verdict on Gordon after Bayern Munich registered their interest in the 25-year-old.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director Max Eberl has refused to rule out the Bundesliga side making a move for Gordon in the summer transfer window, whom Newcastle value at up to £75m.
Vincent Kompany’s side could face competition from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, with Gordon appearing likely to leave Tyneside this summer.
Gordon would not be the only star to leave Newcastle in the transfer market, with the Magpies set to have no European football at St James’ Park next season.

VISIT THE NEWCASTLE TRANSFER HUBExpert has ‘question mark’ over Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Anthony Gordon
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Gordon has never fulfilled his potential.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the forward’s favoured move this summer could be to join Liverpool.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I get the feeling that Bayern Munich think that if they get Anthony Gordon, he’d be another Harry Kane.
“Somebody should tell them that isn’t going to be the situation. If Newcastle got £75m for Gordon, Newcastle fans would drive him to the airport. He’s not performed as well as he should have done at Newcastle.
“I analysed him at Everton. We had him as a youngster and brought him through. He just seems to me, to have never quite delivered his promise. Whether the pace is still there, I think it is, but that final product is still the question mark over Anthony.
“If Newcastle were to get £50m plus add-ons, I would take that. I don’t think he’ll settle in Germany as well as Harry Kane has done either. I just don’t see that with his personality.
“His favourite move may be coming back to Liverpool, but we’ll see. If they were to get that money from Bayern, then they should bite their hand off and take it.”
Newcastle plan ambitious move with Anthony Gordon funds
Newcastle could look to reinvest any money gained from a sale of Gordon to bolster their attacking ranks.
Criticism has been aimed at Newcastle’s recruitment from last summer amid strikers Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa failing to produce the goals required for the club this season.
The pair looked to have fallen below Will Osula in the pecking order, who has started the last three matches under Eddie Howe, scoring two goals.
Sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle are planning a move for Marcus Rashford, who has vast Premier League experience and looks certain to leave Manchester United this summer.
