Newcastle United supporters are still eagerly awaiting to see Amanda Staveley's next challenge two years on from her departure.

The 53-year-old businesswoman was instrumental in PIF's takeover at St James' Park, a turning point in the club's history, many would argue.

Since stepping down from her role with the Magpies, there have been multiple attempts at investing elsewhere, including Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Despite being in advanced talks with both, and Staveley being desperate to get back into the footballing world, neither deals have worked out.

It's not like she wanted to walk away from St James' Park. She adored the club, the fans, Eddie Howe, and everything to do with the Magpies.

Staveley, when leaving, even said that she and her husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, would never stop being fans. That loyalty will mean a great deal to the supporters.

PIF's future on the rocks at Newcastle United

But why would she return to Newcastle when the current ownership model would make it extremely difficult to come aboard as an investor?

Well, some red flags were raised over PIF's future during the summer, especially when multiple key players were sold and hardly replaced.

Stefan Borson suggested to Football Insider in August that the Saudi owners have "lost their appetite," and some find that difficult to disagree with.

The announcement of plans for a brand-new training complex at Woolsington Hall curbed some of the biggest worries, but they haven't disappeared.

Their investment in LIV Golf has certainly turned some heads, even raising the alarm bells for some supporters.

Amanda Staveley remains without an investment opportunity

The longer that Staveley remains without an opportunity, the more desperate she is likely to grow.

And that can only be a good thing for Newcastle, whose current owners are facing questions from the majority of fans inside St James' Park.

Should PIF step down, which many expected them to do during the summer, it surely wouldn't be impossible to see Staveley and her consortium waiting by the doors.

Staveley's love for the Magpies is never going to disappear, especially after how much they achieved together in such a short amount of time.
