Aston Villa make it clear to Newcastle they must accelerate Antonio Nusa deal
Newcastle United held interest in Nicolas Jackson for several transfer windows before he eventually signed for Aston Villa.
The Villans agreed to sign the 25-year-old from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £65million in the summer and are benefiting massively.
The striker has already netted seven goals in 11 games across all competitions, including a brace against Manchester City on Saturday.
Newcastle signed Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade last summer, before spending £51m on Matias Fernandez-Pardo in September.
Yet they have struggled massively for goals this season so far, with Matthias Jaissle keen to find a solution amid mounting pressure.
Should the same situation arise once more for the Magpies in upcoming transfer windows, it would be expected that a different decision will be made.
Newcastle cannot miss out on Antonio Nusa
Jackson was reportedly on Newcastle's list in the summer of 2025, after he had been outcasted at Chelsea.
The Magpies ultimately faltered amid the ongoing Alexander Isak saga, with their moves for Wissa and Woltemade coming incredibly late in the window.
Jackson, meanwhile, would join Bayern Munich on a season-long loan with an option to buy set around £56m.
The German champions passed up the deal and the striker was back on the market this summer, with Xabi Alonso not interested in reintegrating him.
Again, Newcastle were interested in the striker but looked elsewhere, focused on departures, a manager change and finding a loan move for Woltemade.
Villa took the chance and are reaping the benefits, in what simply must be a lesson for decision-makers at St James' Park.
Similar links have emerged over the future of RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, who is reportedly of interest to both Newcastle and Villa.
Nusa will be the next Premier League star
Newcastle should be at the front of the queue to sign Nusa next summer, with the 21-year-old to have only two years left on his contract.
The Norwegian winger has four goals and three assists across all competitions this season so far, and offers plenty of the danger Jaissle's team lacks.
Nusa will have other suitors - Villa are interested, but so are the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
Yet this feels as if it is one that Newcastle simply cannot afford to miss out on.
