Favourites named in Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle race for Antonio Nusa
Arsenal and Aston Villa hold the edge over Newcastle United in the race to sign RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, sources have told Football Insider.
The trio of Premier League sides all have the 21-year-old on their radar ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, and are prepared to pounce if he becomes available.
There is expected to be a major race to sign Nusa in January, who impressed at the World Cup and has begun the campaign in excellent form.
Sources say that Aston Villa and Arsenal are both better placed to secure his signature than Newcastle, as they can both offer Champions League football.
The duo are expected to be firm contenders to land the wideman as a result, but interest from elsewhere in Europe is set to grow ahead of January.
Nusa has seven goal contributions from his opening seven games in all competitions this term, and has established himself as one of the Bundesliga's leading stars.
Ex-scout tips Antonio Nusa for '£60m' move
Nusa's stock has risen dramatically at Leipzig in the last 12 months, and he also starred for Norway at the 2026 World Cup.
His form in Germany has naturally prompted Premier League clubs to sit up and take notice of him, and a deal could be likely in the upcoming January window.
Former Tottenham scout and Norwegian football expert Bryan King recently told Football Insider that clubs will need at least "£60million" to be able to sign Nusa this winter.
The ex-recruitment man believes that several Premier League clubs are assessing a move for Nusa "as we speak."
King first saw the starlet during his time as a young player in his homeland at Stabaek, and believes that his direct style could be perfectly suited to English football.
Arsenal and Villa both have the added pull of continental football on their side, and that could ultimately be the difference when it comes to striking a deal.
Arsenal set for three contract extensions
Football Insider revealed on Monday that Arsenal are in "advanced talks" over a new deal for Declan Rice after recently moving to extend Mikel Arteta's contract.
The Gunners want to follow up their move to secure Rice's future by also handing new deals to Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber.
The trio are all out of contract in the summer of 2028 at the moment, but are seen as vital pieces of the project moving forward.
All three have been key figures for Arteta's side in recent years, and they are now set to have their performances rewarded.
