Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal edges closer as medical booked - verdict

Bruno Guimaraes' future is becoming an even bigger talking point after Newcastle United agreed the terms of a new deal.

A growing number of supporters are concerned about a repeat of Alexander Isak's situation, with Guimaraes eventually getting what he wants and engineering a move to Arsenal.

It is already understood that the Brazilian wants to quit St James' Park this summer and sign for the Premier League champions.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bryan King has already urged the Magpies to sign Tottenham Hotspur's Archie Gray as a replacement this summer.

However, Newcastle have made an out-of-the-blue move to sign Monaco's Aladji Bamba, who has just 25 first-team appearances to his name.

Ahead of a deal worth £34million, Football Insider understands that the 20-year-old has already jetted into the country to complete his medical at St James' Park.

Newcastle are expected to make plenty of changes over the coming weeks, and it will be desperately needed if Sandro Tonali and Guimaraes are both to leave.

He is more likely to be a direct replacement for Tonali, but it would suggest a huge shift in the centre of the park, one that Eddie Howe needs to be prepared for.

Who else could Newcastle United lose?

Guimaraes is not the only players who is likely to be leaving St James' Park over the coming weeks, and that is only bad news for Howe.

Both Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have been linked with exits, and the latter is massively admired by Manchester United, among others.

Either Yoane Wissa or Nick Woltemade could make way, with both experiencing very disappointing 2025-26 campaigns in the north east.

Unsurprisingly, Joe Willock could be next to go, unless Arsenal can soon agree a deal for Guimaraes, which might be easier with Newcastle set to sign Bamba.
