Dan Burn's ankle injury is worse than first feared as Matthias Jaissle deals with his first major blow of the new Premier League campaign.
The German was forced to start the new campaign without his newly-appointed club captain Burn, who was ruled out just hours before the game with an ankle problem.
Burn was subsequently pictured arriving at St James' Park in a protective boot, with initial reports confirming that he was set for several weeks out.
A new update on his issue has confirmed that he is facing over a month on the sidelines until the first international break of the campaign.
Newcastle are not likely to enter the market for a new centre-back despite his issues, leaving Jaissle with three senior players to choose from in the middle of his backline for the foreseeable future.

Burn has been a stalwart at the back for the Magpies over the last four seasons, missing just 18 games through injury since he arrived at the club in January 2022.
He is set to play a key role under Jaissle after being handed the captaincy following Bruno Guimaraes' exit, but will have to wait until October to feature under his new manager in a competitive match.
Journalist Keith Downie has revealed, via X, that Burn is expected to be out until after the September/October international break, meaning he is also likely to miss out on England's next round of fixtures.
