Eddie Howe to return with 'huge club' months after Newcastle exit
Eddie Howe is waiting to receive an offer from a "huge club" before making his return to management in the Premier League.
The 48-year-old left Newcastle in a shock move mid-way through their pre-season campaign and has since been linked with a number of potential vacancies around Europe.
However, the boss is not considering a return with just any club, and hopes to step into a top job thanks to the work he did during his long spell at St James' Park.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Howe is content to take a break from football and will reject offers until the right one comes along.
That comes amid links with a number of potential vacancies in the Premier League, with major managerial changes expected to take place following the international break.
While no clubs have been tempted to pull the trigger just yet, there are multiple bosses who have come under pressure, and Howe could be eyed to step straight back in.
What will be Eddie Howe's next move?
Brown told Football Insider on 1 October that Howe is currently keen to take a break from management, but could be tempted to accept an offer if the right one came along.
That offer will have to be from a top club, though, to lure the manager back onto the sidelines just months after leaving Newcastle as he felt his time at the club had come to and end.
Howe has notably been linked with both the Man United and Tottenham jobs amid pressure on Michael Carrick and Roberto De Zerbi, but no changes are expected as things stand.
"I would be surprised if Eddie Howe was to return any time soon," Brown told Football Insider.
"Even though it's inevitable that he will have offers from different clubs who might be in need of managers, because he's obviously highly thought of.
"We're coming up to that period in the season now where clubs start to make these decisions, but I believe Howe is happy to be taking a break and isn't looking to return.
"That could change, of course, and he could be convinced by the right offer because there are a lot of clubs who think very highly of him after what he did at Newcastle.
"But I think it would have to be a huge club to convince him to come back, it's not just going to be the first club who pops up with an offer for him.
"He won't want to drop down from where he was with Newcastle, because lets not forget they were playing in the Champions League under him.
"So it'll have to be a really top club to tempt Howe back in, especially at the moment when as I said he is planning to take time out of the game."
Which other clubs are interested in Howe?
Howe's decision to take a break from management will have come as a blow to a number of his potential suitors, but there is a feeling he could be lured back in.
Amid links with potential vacancies at Man United and Tottenham, an offer from either club could be enough to tempt him, but there are other suitors being mentioned as well.
Football Insider reported on 30 September that Celtic could try their hand at luring Howe back into management as questions continue to be asked of Martin O'Neill.
However, O'Neill is expected to remain at Celtic after the club threw their backing behind him, as they do not plan to make a change in the immediate future.
Howe has also frequently been linked with the England job, but Thomas Tuchel's side are going from strength to strength, and he is under contract until after Euro 2028.
