Newcastle United suffered another disappointing defeat at St James' Park, this time at the hands of Unai Emery's Aston Villa.

It could have been even worse than the scoreline projected, with Sven Botman avoiding a nailed-on early red card on Saturday, 17 October.

Johan Manzambi's 36th-minute strike made all the difference, and the Magpies' limp display leaves them 11th in the Premier League table.

Matthias Jaissle's side now won just once in their last five league games, only broken up by a 1-0 win over Millwall in the Carabao Cup.

While Football Insider understands that PIF have no current plans to sack the manager, something has to stick or twist at St James' Park.

If Jaissle has any chance of keeping his job, he needs to make some serious changes against Crystal Palace on Sunday, 25 October.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo

It's unlikely to happen, but Matias Fernandez-Pardo simply isn't cutting it in Newcastle's attack after his £51million arrival from Lille.

He lasted just 56 minutes against Villa, registering no shots and no chances created, won just 50 per cent of his ground duels and was even dribbled past twice [FotMob].

Yoane Wissa

When Will Osula is coming off the bench, recently returning from injury, each passing game when Yoane Wissa starts becomes increasingly frustrating.

Against Villa, he possibly had one of his worst performances yet, taking a total of seven shots, with none of them hitting their target [FotMob].

He completed just 67 per cent of his passes, created no chances, was the 18th-fastest player on the pitch, and generally looked incredibly wasteful.

Sven Botman

Just for his red-card challenge alone, Botman should not be starting the next game. He's clearly a liability in the centre of defence.

His stats might have looked good on paper, but when there's a chance he could leave Newcastle with 10 men, Fabian Schar or Dan Burn deserve a shot against the Eagles.
