How much Matthias Jaissle can spend as Newcastle's SCR position revealed

Eddie Howe has left Matthias Jaissle in a difficult predicament after arriving as Newcastle United's manager ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Newcastle have sold Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, with Bruno Guimaraes next to depart St James' Park.

Things have collapsed within weeks in the north east, and while Jaissle is a young and excitable figure, he won't have experienced anything like this before.

Currently, the Magpies are priced at just 9/1 by the bookmakers to be relegated from the Premier League, and those fears are only getting stronger.

Replacing Guimaraes will be one of the new manager's biggest priority this summer, and supporters are expecting a lot more money to be spent.

PIF's involvement at St James' Park has been questioned quite a lot, but with over £138million already spent on signings, SCR is once again a talking point.

Newcastle United safe from SCR

It is understood, as per iNews, that the "pure profit" from Guimaraes' departure will allow the Magpies to reinvest in future windows, even with UEFA's financial restrictions.

According to Professor Rob Wilson, who spoke to the newspaper, Newcastle could spend upwards of £150m should the Brazilian's deal go through.

He explained that this is due to the amortisation across the players' contracts, with SCR not an issue at St James' Park at this moment in time.

Of course, Newcastle were charged with two different breaches of SCR and Football Earnings Rule (FER), facing an immediate £5.1m fine earlier this summer.

Everyone at St James' Park would want to avoid further fines from UEFA, but any possibility of that appears to have vanished thanks to the recent departures.

Who else could Matthias Jaissle lose?

While it has been extensively covered that Newcastle don't have a need to sell, there are multiple players who could still leave the north east.

Lewis Hall is one of the leading contenders, with Manchester United huge admirers of the talented full-back, and he isn't the only one this summer.

Tino Livramento likely would have been signed already were it not for his continuous injury blows, while Joe Willock is expected to leave.

There are also rumours that Joelinton could make a move to Saudi Arabia, but there has been very little movement on that since it initially emerged.
