Newcastle United are preparing themselves for Lewis Hall's departure amid strong interest from Manchester United this summer.

Michael Carrick's side are said to be huge admirers of the full-back, who came through the Chelsea academy before landing at St James' Park.

The 21-year-old missed out on England's 2026 World Cup squad, despite being one of the Magpies' most consistent players in 2025-26.

That is exactly what sparked fears that Hall could make the switch to Old Trafford this summer, but those in the north east immediately hit back at the links.

Having already lost Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, the Magpies cannot afford to sell any other big names, but that might be out of their control now.

Matthias Jaissle's side were beaten 3-1 by Everton in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, 12 August, and supporters have blown up at new footage emerging from the game.

Lewis Hall 'wants out of Newcastle too'

With the Toffees already two goals up in 36 minutes, Hall attempted to dribble backwards away from Nathan Patterson, only to be left in his dust on the floor.

Newcastle fans are already turning on the player, stating he "isn't as good as people make out," while another said he was "playing like he's being forced".

Joelinton also under fire vs Everton

Hall is not the only player under pressure ahead of 2026-27, as the Magpies attempt to rebuild after losing several important players.

Joelinton, despite being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, is still starring at St James' Park. Many feel that needs to change, though.

In just 45 minutes against Everton, the Brazilian conceded a penalty, lost 100 per cent of his ground duels, committed three fouls, and failed to win a tackle [FotMob].

Everything is changing in the North East, even the man in the dugout, and for those reasons, many are expecting a difficult time next season.

Some have even raised concerns about potentially being relegated from the Premier League, but those fans are getting far too ahead of themselves.
