Eddie Howe is in desperate need of reinforcements at Newcastle United ahead of what could be a very difficult 2026-27 campaign.

The former Bournemouth manager is under serious pressure to turn things around at St James' Park, and recent events in the transfer market have only worsened the situation.

Bruno Guimaraes could be next to follow Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon out the exit doors, and their biggest deals continue to be hijacked.

While Bazoumana Toure and Sean Steur are talented in their own rights, Aston Villa's impending deal for Johan Manzambi is likely to sting.

The Magpies are attempting a hijack of their own, it would seem, with Manchester City's Omar Marmoush now on the club's radar as a new forward.

That is according to Football Insider's Mick Brown, and it would be fascinating to see Howe's side battle Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

Eddie Howe could sacrifice Yoane Wissa

Although the 27-year-old appeared to struggle in 2025-26, he still notched more contributions than his first season in England.

It would be difficult for anyone playing in Erling Haaland's shadow, and a move to St James' Park could be the perfect chance for him to escape.

Newcastle do already have multiple options through the middle, however, so Howe may have to sacrifice one of them to make room for Marmoush.

Right now, Yoane Wissa's exit appears far more likely, with Football Insider revealing back in April that the club were open to offers after just half-a-season.

His injury woes must be taken into account, having started just four Premier League games last term, but fans expected more after splashing £50million.

Who could sign the Newcastle United forward?

It is highly unlikely that the Magpies are going to make a profit on the former Brentford man. They'll be lucky to break even.

However, with three goals in four games at the 2026 World Cup, his departure isn't impossible. Afterall, football is a result-driven business.

If he were to be sold, Newcastle would certainly be hoping for a Saudi Pro League side to come forward, giving them the best chance at not losing money.

While some want to see Wissa given another chance, the majority are scarred by his first season at the club, and also believe that Marmoush would be a sensational purchase instead.
