Newcastle star set to leave for 'free' after 'big-money offer' rejected
Newcastle may live to regret turning down offers for Jacob Murphy as he is currently set to leave the club for nothing next summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Murphy was the subject of late interest from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest before the summer deadline passed on Tuesday.
Oliver Glasner's side reportedly submitted two bids for his services, with the latter being worth around £15million.
The 31-year-old recently entered the final year of his contract at Newcastle, yet they decided to reject any approaches as Matthias Jaissle pushed to keep him around.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Murphy is still set to leave on a free transfer next summer as contract talks are yet to begin.
The Magpies are seemingly waiting to see how much of an impact he can have under Jaissle before making a final decision on a new deal.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Jaissle was the driving force behind Newcastle keeping Murphy, largely due to his experience and versatility.
He struggled to contribute regularly off the right wing last season, but will be tasked with showing what he can do this term before potentially leaving for free next summer.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Look, it's a gamble by Newcastle to keep hold of him rather than sanction his departure to Nottingham Forest for big money.
"I think their second bid was around £15 million. Newcastle do risk losing him for nothing next summer when his contract expires."
Jaissle makes Matias Fernandez-Pardo plan after Nick Woltemade exit
Fernandez-Pardo was the Magpies' final signing of the summer as he arrived for an initial £52m fee from Lille.
He can play across the front line and as a number 10, but sources have told Football Insider that Jaissle is set to deploy Fernandez-Pardo as a striker following his arrival on Tyneside.
The 21-year-old shone there for Lille towards the end of last term, and has a free run at the position after Woltemade was loaned to Juventus and with Will Osula still out injured.
