Newcastle to play 'key' role in Brian Brobbey leaving Sunderland
Newcastle United could hold the key to Brian Brobbey's future at Sunderland as a transfer domino effect could take place.
The 24-year-old is being linked with a move to multiple clubs in the Premier League and across Europe as a result of his impressive performances under Regis Le Bris.
Among those clubs, Juventus are being tipped as the front-runners, with Nick Woltemade's future likely to be key in any move they make for the Netherlands international.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Woltemade's return to Newcastle could open the door for Juventus to sign Brobbey next summer.
The Magpies' striker joined Juventus on loan during the summer, but as things stand, there are no plans for him to make a permanent switch to Turin when that deal expires.
As a result, the Serie A giants will be forced into the market to land a new striker, and Brobbey is being tipped as one of their leading targets.
Will Nick Woltemade return to Newcastle United?
Brown told Football Insider on 6 October that Woltemade is highly unlikely to complete a permanent move to Juventus after a slow start to his career in Turin.
The 24-year-old completed a late move to the Italian giants on deadline day, but has yet to start a league game, while there was no option to buy included in his deal.
With Juventus unlikely to sign the Newcastle man unless something changes during the season, his return to St James' Park could spell bad news for Sunderland.
"This situation with Juventus is definitely going to be one to watch, because there are a lot of moving parts," Brown told Football Insider.
"Obviously they've got the Newcastle striker at the moment, Woltemade, but it doesn't look like they're going to make that move permanent at the end of the season.
"He will return to Newcastle, whether they want him back or not, and then that means they will be looking to sign a new striker next year.
"Brian Brobbey from Sunderland is the one who is being mentioned at the moment, he's being linked to a lot of clubs, and move to a big club like Juventus could be appealing.
"So in that respect, Newcastle are going to be key to whether Brobbey stays at Sunderland, because all of this depends on whether or not Woltemade stays at Juventus."
How do Sunderland feel about losing Brian Brobbey?
Juventus are not the only club interested in signing Brobbey in the near future, with multiple suitors keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of the 2027 transfer windows.
The Italian club have reportedly sent scouts to watch the striker, but the likes of Man United, Tottenham and Aston Villa have also been linked with moves for his signature.
However, Brown told Football Insider on 21 September that Sunderland are desperate to keep Brobbey on Wearside and have no plans to let him leave any time soon.
Following his performance in the 5-3 defeat against Man City last month, in which he scored a hattrick, the interest in his signature is expected to accelerate.
However, Sunderland will not entertain any conversations about his future and are prepared to do everything in their power to block his move away from the Stadium of Light.
