Nick Woltemade 'will return to Newcastle United' after Juventus decision
Nick Woltemade is unlikely to complete a permanent move to Juventus next summer and will return to Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old completed a late move to the Italian giants on deadline day, but has yet to start a league game, with his only start and only goal coming in the Europa League.
Juventus are believed to have already decided against signing the striker on a permanent deal, with no option to buy having been included in his move from St James' Park.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Woltemade will return to Newcastle as a result, where they will then weigh up his long-term future.
The Magpies decided they were well-placed to move forward without the Germany international this season, but are keeping a close eye on his performances out on loan.
There had initially been some optimism that Woltemade's move could become permanent despite the lack of a set clause, but that is now unlikely to happen.
What is next for Nick Woltemade?
Football Insider revealed on 20 September that Woltemade has no long-term future at Newcastle, but they are hoping to see his performances for Juventus improve.
Despite having been earmarked for a return to St James' Park come the end of the season, the striker is unlikely to become part of Matthias Jaissle's first-team plans.
However, they will have no choice but to take him back next year, when new plans will have to be put in place for his long-term future.
"Nick Woltemade will return to Newcastle United at the end of the season," Brown told Football Insider.
"They have no choice, there's no buy clause in the loan deal and Juventus have already decided they don't want to keep him, so he will be going back to Newcastle.
"Whether they want him back or not, they're going to have to resolve the situation next year, if that means moving him on or bringing him back into the team.
"But I wouldn't expect him to get his place back, to be honest, because they were pretty keen for him to move on in the first place.
"I think they hoped he would be able to agree a permanent move to Juventus even without that buy option, but yeah, it doesn't seem like that will be the case."
Which clubs are interested in Woltemade?
Woltemade is set to return to Newcastle at the end of the season, but with no plans to reintegrate him into the starting XI, questions are being asked about his long-term future.
A number of clubs across Europe are believed to be keeping tabs on his situation and would be willing to lure him away from St James' Park if he was made available.
Football Insider revealed on 20 September that Bayern Munich are plotting a move to sign Woltemade when he returns to Newcastle after his spell at Juventus.
The Bundesliga champions have been long-term admirers of the striker and were surprised when they missed out on a deal as he opted to join Newcastle last summer.
However, one year on, they are continuing to keep tabs on Woltemade's situation and could move to test Newcastle's resolve when he returns from his season-long loan spell.
