Newcastle's Tino Livramento contract decision is made for them after 'update'
Newcastle United should not offer Tino Livramento a new contract anytime soon as he continues to suffer from persistent injury issues.
Livramento has consistently proved himself as one of the best young right-backs in the world over the last few seasons at Newcastle.
The 23-year-old's role in the Magpies' rise under Eddie Howe since he joined the club in 2023 has not gone unnoticed.
Several top clubs have been linked to his services over the last 12 months, with Man City and Arsenal among those monitoring his services, as his Newcastle contract expires in 2028.
One huge sticking point stopping those clubs from signing him has been his injury concerns, with the England defender seemingly injured and out of action more often than not in recent seasons.
Livramento is currently sidelined, and the latest update on his fitness should only point to one eventuality for him on Tyneside.
Newcastle should prepare to cash in on Tino Livramento
Livramento has shown himself to be a quality operator at full-back, yet is completely unreliable through no real fault of his own.
According to Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old has missed 51 games for club and country with nine different ailments since joining Newcastle just three years ago.
He also missed the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign before leaving Southampton for St James' Park after suffering a cruciate ligament tear.
Livramento was limited to just 14 league starts last term, and he was last named in the Magpies' starting eleven in April as he suffers from continual issues at the start of this campaign.
Jaissle does not really have any problems without the England defender, however, as summer signing Amar Dedic and versatile midfielder Lewis Miley each impress at right-back in his absence.
The latest report from the Daily Mail's Craig Hope states that the knee issue he suffered in training last month was initially believed to be innocuous, but he has had to go through more rest and recovery and is likely to remain sidelined for another month.
It would be wrong to offer him a new deal beyond 2028 anytime soon, despite his quality, and the Magpies should realistically be open to selling Livramento in January before his injury issues become even more prominent.
Dedic and Miley both have the quality to be Livramento's long-term successors
Dedic cost Newcastle £29.5million from Benfica in the summer, and has started relatively well under Jaissle despite their struggles as a team.
He has three assists in seven Magpies appearances and is among the best-performing Premier League full-backs so far for successful cross percentage (75%), duels won per 90 (5.26), defensive contributions per 90 (7.02) and recoveries per 90 (5.01).
Miley has emerged as a starter in the position in recent weeks, and while his future should be in midfield, he has also impressed on the right of Jaissle's back four.
The Newcastle academy product is a leader among PL full-backs for successful passes per 90 (47.3), chances created per 90 (1.15), successful dribble percentage (75%), defensive contributions per 90 (11.3) and recoveries per 90 (5.91).
