Petar Sucic is on Newcastle's radar as Eddie Howe targets more midfield additions in a busy summer window.

Newcastle have suffered a tough summer window so far, with numerous key men already sold and more potentially on their way out.

Howe's midfield is undergoing a real overhaul, which he will likely have wanted to avoid as several top stars make moves away.

Bruno Guimaraes could soon join Sandro Tonali in leaving Tyneside for North London, as Arsenal hold talks over a deal, with replacements for the club captain being eyed.

The latest Corriere dello Sport reports that Newcastle have made an initial approach to Inter Milan over signing Croatian international midfielder Sucic.

Leeds are also interested in the Serie A star, but Inter want to keep hold of him as both clubs line up possible £34million moves.

Petar Sucic's career so far

Sucic made his way through the youth ranks of several top Bosnian clubs before joining Dinamo Zagreb in 2022.

He quickly became a regular with the Croatian side after a loan spell with Zrinjski Mostar, with his professional debut coming in a Champions League qualifier at just 18-years-old in July 2022.

Sucic made 43 appearances for Zagreb in the 2023-24 campaign as they won a domestic treble of the top flight, Croatian Cup and Super Cup.

He decided to represent Croatia over Bosnia at international level in March 2024, joining his cousin, Real Sociedad midfielder Luka, in featuring for the country of his family.

Sucic set records for the most distance covered and highest speed ever recorded by a Croatia player in internationals against France and Brazil.

Inter snapped him up for around £12m in June of last year, and he registered four goals and five assists in 54 games for the Italian giants as they won a league and cup double last term.

Sucic, now 22, counts Mateo Kovacic, Marcelo Brozovic, Xavi and Andres Iniesta among his biggest idols in the game.

Which other midfielders have Newcastle been linked to?

Howe will clearly need to bolster his midfield options if Guimaraes moves on this summer, with several targets reportedly on their radar.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle will look to outbid Nottingham Forest for Lucas Bergvall if the Reds make a move in the coming weeks.

Tijjani Reijnders is also a target for the Magpies, as revealed by Football Insider, as he may be allowed to leave Man City this summer.

Parma's Mandela Keita, Flamengo's Danilo and long-time target Lamine Camara have each also been linked to the Tyneside club, following the arrivals of Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba.
