Sources: Newcastle to spend big on three stars as Bruno Guimaraes joins mass exodus
Newcastle are keen to spend big to replace Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, as well as Bruno Guimaraes if he leaves this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Eddie Howe's squad is being picked apart this summer after a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
Bruno Guimaraes is the latest Magpies star to be linked with a high-profile move away, with Arsenal keen on his services.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, their owners, PIF, will not hold back in bringing in some big-money replacements for their departed stars.
Guimaraes has reportedly asked to leave the club, and several midfield targets are on their radar as it stands.
Bruno Guimaraes sale to trigger big Newcastle signing spree
Newcastle have already moved to bring in reinforcements in attack, with Bazoumana Toure joining from Hoffenheim for £42m.
Ajax midfielder Sean Steur has also moved to St James' Park for £23m, but more big-money arrivals are expected to bolster Howe's ranks.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "They have made money from the sales of Gordon and Tonali, and now it looks like Bruno Guimaraes might be on his way as well.
"That would be a huge blow for Newcastle considering that he is their club captain and such a key player for Eddie Howe's side, so they're obviously going to have to bring in replacements."
Newcastle's Alexander Sorloth move hinges on Julian Alvarez exit
Howe is keen to add to his striking options this summer amid uncertainty over the futures of Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade.
Woltemade is widely expected to stay at the club and play regularly in attacking midfield, while reports have claimed that the Magpies are happy to let Wissa leave.
That means a new striker is on the agenda, with sources revealing to Football Insider that Newcastle admire Atletico Madrid forward Sorloth.
The Norway attacker is only likely to leave the Spanish capital if teammate Alvarez remains at the club amid serious interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG, as they do not want to sell two strikers in one window.
