Sources reveal Lewis Hall's updated stance on joining Man United
Newcastle United star Lewis Hall continues to be heavily linked with a move to Manchester United after missing out in the summer.
The 22-year-old left-back has been admired by those at Old Trafford for a long time, and understandably so, given his displays for the Magpies.
Hall would have joined the Red Devils months ago had it not been for Newcastle's eye-watering price tag, one which might have only gone up.
Matthias Jaissle will thank his lucky stars that a move never materialised, with the full-back, unsurprisingly, one of his most consistent players this season.
His future remains a major talking point at St James' Park, though, and Michael Carrick's defence still requires a huge rebuild.
Luke Shaw could be in his final season at Old Trafford, but it is so much bigger than that. Newcastle's entire defence is lacking quality.
Lewis Hall to Man United still on the cards
And that's exactly why the senior figures are already making plans for the upcoming transfer windows, ones which include Hall.
According to iNews (20 October), the Red Devils will revisit a deal for the defender, and the interest appears to go both ways.
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Hall remains interested in a move to Old Trafford, with his stance not changing since the summer.
Bournemouth's Adrien Truffert is also being targeted, but Man United are likely to face a lot of competition for the 24-year-old Frenchman.
Undoubtedly, Hall would be their first choice if Man United got a choice between the two, but finances are likely to play a huge role in the plans.
What does the future hold for Luke Shaw?
With interest remaining in Hall, questions are bound to be asked about Luke Shaw's future, given that his contract expires this summer.
However, Football Insider understands that the 31-year-old will be offered new terms after impressing over the last couple of seasons.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that the new deal might not save the left-back, though, with the potential for him to be replaced straight away.
Man United also need to worry about the rest of the defence. It's the same back four as a few years ago, showcasing the club's poor recruitment.
