Lukas Hornicek: Newcastle could be signing an ‘incredible’ player
Braga giant Lukas Hornicek is the latest goalkeeper to be linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer as Eddie Howe looks to improve his options between the sticks.
The six-foot-six-inch keeper has reportedly been added to the Magpies’ list of targets in recent weeks.
The 24-year-old has a £30million release clause in his contract and is being tracked by numerous European clubs.
Last season, Hornicek heavily impressed for Braga, and kept 12 clean sheets in 33 games in the league last season.
On top of this, he was also magical in the Europa League as Braga reached the semi-finals, with his performance against Celtic drawing plenty of praise from the British media.

Back in October, Braga was tasked with a trip to Celtic Park for the Europa League’s league phase.
Glasgow is no easy place to go for any side, but the Portuguese outfit managed to come away with three points thanks to a 2-0 win.
Hornicek was fundamental to this, with the goalkeeper making three top saves and preventing 0.95 goals, according to Fotmob.
Watching the game, Celtic legend Pat Bonner was amazed by his save to keep Sebastian Tounekti's effort out late on.
He told BBC Sportsound on 2 October 2025: “An incredible stop, a huge save at this moment in time.”
Therefore, with Hornicek putting up match-winning performances in Europe, there is no doubt that he can be a hit at St James’ Park.
His performance against Celtic proved that he is ready for the step up to the Premier League, and if Keith Downie’s report comes to fruition, he could be an excellent buy.

Another player Newcastle are looking to sign this summer is Giorgio Scalvini.
The Magpies are believed to be in pole position to secure the signing of the centre-back from Atalanta.
Scalvini has become an increasingly important player for Atalanta in recent seasons, and already has over 100 Serie A appearances under his belt by the age of 22.
However, it remains to be seen if the club are able to get a deal over the line for the defender in the coming weeks as Newcastle look to improve on last season’s poor finish in the Premier League.
