Newcastle United could benefit from selling Anthony Gordon in the summer as Liverpool remain ahead of Arsenal in agreeing a deal.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who is tipping Gordon to leave St James' Park at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent transfer windows, despite having previously played for rivals Everton.

Mohamed Salah's confirmed departure from Liverpool means the Reds will be in the market for a new forward this summer.

Newcastle are expected to lose key players in the transfer market, with Eddie Howe's side set to be without European football next season.

Anthony Gordon 'is going to end up at Liverpool'

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs - believes Gordon is not a fan favourite at Newcastle right now.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the Magpies can get a "decent price" for the England international.

Anthony Gordon's 2025-26 Premier League stats for Newcastle.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, Anthony Gordon. I mean, I see a lot of the sections of the Newcastle fans. He's not the favourite at the moment and there's a lot of dissatisfaction up there.

"I think he'd be one of those that would go, and I think he'll go at a decent price and that would be factored into how they're going to rebuild the squad this summer. And that's where I think these sorts of things are going to go.

"I wouldn't be surprised to see Nick Woltemade go as well. So they're going to be raising some money to do this rebuilding, and it's important they get this right.

"I've always said, Gordon to Liverpool, there's been talk about Arsenal, but I do think it'll be Liverpool and I think that's where he's going to end up. I think Newcastle will be better off for a change this summer and I don't think they want to keep him to be honest.”

Newcastle could lose second star to Premier League rivals

Wyness also told Football Insider that he expects Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Guimaraes turns 29 later this year, and Newcastle could cash in on the Brazilian with Manchester United one club who could make a move.

With Casemiro leaving, Guimaraes has been backed to succeed at Old Trafford, and could be a perfect replacement for the 34-year-old.
