Newcastle United supporters have understandably lost patience with Yoane Wissa following his big-money move to St James' Park.

It was always going to be difficult to fill Alexander Isak's shoes this season, with Nick Woltemade even being forced into midfield, despite arriving as a £69million centre-forward.

The German international has shown bright sparks of his talent, though, while Wissa has managed just one Premier League goal, and his biggest battle has been against injuries so far.

Newcastle splashed £55million on the former Brentford forward during the summer, and many at St James' Park are already pushing for the Magpies to move him on just 12 months later.

Yoane Wissa wasted Newcastle's biggest chance vs Arsenal

It is clearly not just those sat in the stands that are fed up with the big-money signing, with Football Insider understanding that Eddie Howe has no confidence in Wissa following his move.

While his Brentford days appear behind him, the manager has no choice but to turn to his bench against the Gunners on Saturday, 25 April, with his team in desperate search of an equaliser.

The Magpies had been behind since the 9th minute, and the perfect opportunity presented itself for Wissa to immediately earn back the love of the travelling supporters.

Woltemade lifted a smart chip over the defence, which the 29-year-old did latch onto, but having been on his heels, his effort towards goal was blazed very, very high over David Raya's crossbar.

Pressure builds on Eddie Howe at St James' Park

With Wissa blazing his chance over the crossbar, the Magpies were forced to suffer their fifth consecutive defeat across all competitions, including a 7-2 defeat to Barcelona and a loss to Sunderland.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle are increasingly likely to sack Howe, and he can only have himself and his staff to blame for the awful transfer tactics over the past two windows.

Spending a combined £114million on two strikers, one of whom has been converted to a midfielder and the other spending most of his time on the treatment table, has backfired tremendously.

It remains to be seen if Howe will be in charge come the summer, but if he is, he will need to seriously consider cashing in on Wissa, who has been a complete waste of money this season.
