Newcastle United risk blowing Victor Munoz transfer as bid prepared - view
Newcastle United are chasing rising star Victor Munoz this summer as they look to find a replacement for Anthony Gordon.
The Spain international has emerged as one of La Liga’s top prospects this season as he picked up eight goal contributions to keep Osasuna in the top flight.
Newcastle are keen to bring in the 22-year-old winger are have agreed a contract with the star until 2031.
However, the sticking point is the price, with the Magpies not prepared to meet his £34.6m release clause.
As a result, Newcastle risk blowing the deal and missing out on one of Spain’s top stars.
Munoz is currently away with his country at the World Cup as they look to lift the trophy for the second time in 16 years.
Newcastle United have £25.9m starting fee for Victor Munoz
According to Diario De Navarra on 16 June, Newcastle are prepared to pay £25.9m for Munoz, plus add-ons.
This is around 25 per cent lower than the winger's release clause, and it is currently unknown if Osasuna would be prepared to accept such an offer.
Therefore, Newcastle are risking blowing the whole deal, as if they paid the £34.6m, the player would clearly be theirs.
Negotiating over less than £10m, which is likely to be worth loads to the La Liga club, amid an ongoing World Cup, is baffling.
If Munoz hits form in the tournament, interest will obviously decrease, and the Magpies will be put on the back foot.
As a result, Newcastle should just pay the release clause to avoid any potential complications.
How good is Munoz?
According to Fotmob on 16 June, Munoz had some stunning stats in La Liga in the 2025-26 season.
The winger averaged 0.20 goals, 2.73 shots, 0.91 chances created, 2.53 successful dribbles and 4.82 touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes.
If Newcastle are able to get the deal over the line, Munoz could go a long way to filling the hole left by Gordon.
However, it remains to be seen if the club are able to agree on a price tag for the winger, who could easily develop into a top Premier League star in years to come.
