Sources: Newcastle plan to loan out summer signing who's just arrived

Newcastle United will consider sanctioning a loan move for goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen after sealing their move for Lukas Hornicek, sources have told Football Insider.

The Magpies confirmed the arrival of the Czech star from Braga in a £25.7million deal on Monday, with the intention of him becoming their new number one.

Jaouen's immediate future is now likely to depend on whether Newcastle can get veteran gloveman Nick Pope off their books before the end of the window.

The 20-year-old will stay on Tyneside as Hornicek's understudy if Pope is sold, but could be sent out on loan to gain first-team experience if he remains.

The starlet is viewed as a long-term project by the Magpies, who worked hard to sign him from French second-tier side Reims earlier in the summer.

Newcastle see the youngster as a hugely promising prospect, and are keen to ensure that his development doesn't stagnate.

What is the latest on Nick Pope's future?

Pope was heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle earlier in the summer, but talk surrounding his exit has slowed in recent weeks.

The 34-year-old is out of contract on Tyneside in June 2027, and the club have been searching for a solution for him in recent months.

Leeds were strongly linked with a move for the former England international earlier in the window, but are now closing in on a deal to sign James Trafford from Manchester City.

Ipswich were also strong admirers of Pope, but little progress has been made in that department of late.

With Hornicek's arrival at Newcastle now sealed, Pope's future will be closely tied to Jaouen for the rest of the summer.

The Magpies are keen to ensure that the Frenchman gets the required level of game time, be that through the domestic cups with his parent club, or out on loan elsewhere.

Newcastle set sights on Tyler Adams

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last week that Newcastle have their eyes on Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams.

The North East outfit want to strengthen their midfield options this summer, and are one of several clubs who are "watching" the American.

Brown believes that Newcastle are hopeful of being able to convince the 27-year-old to join them this summer, despite Bournemouth having Europa League football this term.

Adams impressed for the Cherries with two goals and two assists last season, and also caught the eye at this summer's World cup.
