Newcastle vs West Ham: How to watch, TV channel, kick-off time and supercomputer prediction

Newcastle United will host West Ham United on Sunday in a match that could well save the visitors or seal their fate.

The Hammers face a two-point deficit to 17th-placed Tottenham, and will rise out of the drop zone if they beat the Magpies.

The Lilywhites will not play until Tuesday when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where they have won just once in the last 36 years.

Victory for the Irons at St James’ Park would send the battle to the final day no matter what, but defeat could relegate them.

Newcastle’s form has improved slightly in recent weeks, but they remain a vulnerable opponent for West Ham to take advantage of.

How to watch Newcastle United vs West Ham

West Ham lodged a formal complaint about the refereeing in their late defeat to Arsenal last week, after their 95th-minute equaliser was ruled out.

But in truth, the Hammers only had themselves to blame after Mateus Fernandes had missed a golden chance to give the home side the lead earlier in the game.

The defeat has left West Ham on the brink of relegation, but Nuno Espirito Santo will make sure his team continue to fight until the end.

Victory on Sunday could flip the situation completely, placing massive pressure on Tottenham to win at Stamford Bridge.

There, they will face a Chelsea team without a Premier League win since the start of March, but it remains a tall order for Roberto De Zerbi’s team.

Should it go to the last day, West Ham will be confident of beating Leeds United at home to secure their safety.

Sunday’s crucial contest will kick off at 17:30 BST and is available to watch on Sky Sports Main Event, Premier League and Ultra HDR.

Supercomputer backs Newcastle to beat West Ham

West Ham actually have a strong recent history of travelling to St James’ Park. Last season, the Hammers won 2-0 there, and they scored three goals in a narrow 4-3 loss the season prior.

But while the Irons beat Newcastle earlier this season, fixtures over the last 10 years have largely gone in the Magpies’ favour.

West Ham have won just six of the last 20 meetings between the sides, and Opta‘s supercomputer has predicted that theme to continue on Sunday.

The Hammers have been given just a 30 per cent chance of emerging victorious, while Newcastle’s chances stand at 45 per cent.

Nuno’s team already knew they would be against the odds, however, and they will hope to defy them for perhaps the most important Premier League game in the club’s recent history.
