NEWCASTLE UTD MATCH CENTRE:
Predicted XIs, Stats, Tactics & European Qualification Analysis
Next up: Newcastle United vs Bournemouth
Newcastle United’s season is in real danger of fizzling out into obscurity now. A damaging March saw them eliminated from the FA Cup and Champions League, while they surrendered the lead against rivals Sunderland to lose 2-1 heading into the international break. There was a chance to get back to winning ways against Crystal Palace last time out, but once again they squandered a winning position to fall a 2-1 defeat. It means their hopes of playing in European competition next season are really hanging in the balance ahead of the closing weeks of the campaign.
Next up, the Magpies welcome Eddie Howe’s former employers Bournemouth to St James’ Park, with the Cherries in a buoyant mood after defeating Premier League leaders Arsenal 2-1 at Emirates Stadium. It is fast looking like a run-in with very little to play for, but rumours gathering pace of a change in the dugout at the end of the campaign, Howe will be desperate to finish the season with a flourish.
