Newcastle are ready to offload youngster Daniel Barlaser on loan this month in order to give him a taste of first-team football, according to a report.
The 19-year-old midfielder has starred in Peter Beardsley’s reserve side, but the Toon are keen to see their young academy star gain some experience to further his development.
The Evening Chronicle claim that two European clubs are interested in the teenage ace, while League One side Northampton Town are also said to be interested.
It is believed that the youngster was a targeted in a permanent move by Turkish giants Galatasaray last year, but that failed to materialise.
Despite making 15 appearances for Turkey’s youth sides, Barlaser switched his allegiance by making an appearance for England’s Under-18s last year.
Making a total of 55 appearances for the development side, with 13 of those coming this season, Barlaser is renowned as one of the hottest prospects coming through the St. James’ Park academy.
Eight goals for Beardsley’s Under-23 side have failed to see him break into Rafa Benitez’s first team, with the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Jack Colback, Isaac Hayden and Mohamed Diame all ahead of him in the Toon pecking order.
With that in mind, Barlaser could now be allowed to leave on loan as he looks to prove to Benitez what he can offer.
Football Insider verdict:
Allowing Barlaser to leave on loan would benefit all parties. The Toon would see their young academy star improve with first-team football and experience, as they look to nurture their number 47 to reach the limits of his potential. Barlaser would benefit from the loan move, as it would give him a chance to prove to Benitez and any other interested sides what he can offer with the majority of his footballing career still to play. Any team that would receive the young midfielder would also gain a huge advantage as they would be receiving a player that has huge potential and could achieve great things with his quality still untested at first-team level.
In other Newcastle transfer news, this report claims that the Toon have tabled a bid for this England international.
