Newcastle’s three-man signing plan revealed as Kieran Trippier replacement lined up
Newcastle United want to sign a new right-back, striker and central midfielder during the next summer transfer window.
Trippier will leave St James’ Park after four-and-a-half years of stellar service to Newcastle during their recent rise under Eddie Howe.
His exit will leave a gap to fill at right-back, while the futures of several of the Magpies’ midfielders are uncertain right now, and Howe’s strikers are struggling for form.
Sporting CP left-back Maxi Araujo has been linked to Tyneside, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Newcastle will prioritise signing a right-back, midfielder and striker ahead of someone in his position this summer.
Newcastle’s transfer plans are set to be hindered by their lack of European football, with some much-improved form needed over the next month to qualify for a UEFA competition.

Howe held crunch meetings with the PIF hierarchy earlier this week, and reports claim that he is set to be given the chance to turn their poor recent form around next season.
They will have discussed transfer targets ahead of the summer, with three particular positions on their radar before a new left-back.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Right now, Newcastle are looking at other areas of the team that they’re looking to strengthen in, probably up front and a right back to replace Kieran Trippier.
“Then they’re potentially (after) a new midfielder as well, if one of their midfielders is to leave. It’s going to be a big summer window for Newcastle.”
Yoane Wissa edging closer to Newcastle exit amid poor form
Wissa has failed to make an impact at Newcastle and has failed to start a game in attack since facing his former club, Brentford, on 7 February.
The DR Congo international has only netted three times in 24 appearances for the Magpies, with Will Osula and Nick Woltemade both ahead of him in the striker pecking order as it stands.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle are ready to cut their losses on Wissa ahead of the summer window.
The new striker they are set to sign is likely to replace the 29-year-old, with a younger, fitter alternative likely to be eyed.
