Yoane Wissa: Newcastle to ‘cut their losses’ as they get ready to accept offer
Yoane Wissa is edging increasingly closer to a move away from Newcastle United after what has been a disappointing season at St James’ Park.
The 29-year-old was signed as part of their efforts to replace Alexander Isak, but his season has been marred by injuries and spells of poor form.
As a result, Eddie Howe is now prepared to move him on should an acceptable offer arrive, with sights set on landing replacements ahead of the window opening.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle will have to cut their losses on Wissa and accept a cut-price offer.
Just one year after his £55million move from Brentford, the Magpies accept they will be unable to recoup the whole fee ahead of what is set to be a difficult window for Newcastle.

Football Insider revealed on 24 April that Newcastle are prepared to accept offers for Wissa as a result of his disappointing performances this season.
Howe is said to have lost faith in the striker, who has repeatedly failed to impress when called upon, and instead will look to alternatives in his squad.

Interest in Wissa is yet to emerge publicly, but with the Magpies preparing to let him leave for a cut-price fee, he is expected to attract offers this summer.
“Newcastle have a bit of a problem with Wissa,” Brown told Football Insider.
“They’re prepared to let him go at the end of the season, it’s become clear that the move hasn’t worked out so now they’re keen to move on.
“But they’re not going to get back the £55million they paid to bring him in last year.
“I’d be shocked if there was any club willing to pay even close to that fee, so if they want to move him on, it’s going to have to be at a lower price.
“If his price tag comes down I expect there will be some interest, because he did well with Brentford, it just hasn’t worked out at Newcastle.
“They have no choice but to cut their losses, really, and then whatever money they can bring in for him can be reinvested into finding a replacement.”
Who could Newcastle sign to replace Wissa this summer?
Amid a growing expectation that Wissa will be allowed to leave St James’ Park this summer, the Magpies have already begun lining up replacements.
Concerns have emerged about Nick Woltemade’s future alongside his teammate, making the addition of a new striker this summer even more urgent.

Brown told Football Insider on 29 April that Newcastle are interested in signing Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea when he returns from his loan spell.
The 24-year-old is set to return to Stamford Bridge this summer after spending the season on loan at Bayern Munich, but is widely expected to make a permanent move away.
Newcastle are one of a number of clubs keeping a close eye on his situation, and could now make a move despite previous concerns about his signing.
