Ange Postecoglou is set to be appointed Nottingham Forest manager with an announcement expected imminently, sources have told Football Insider.

The 60-year-old will come in as the replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked by Forest on Monday night.

Sources say that staff who worked with Postecoglou at Tottenham are set to join him at the City Ground after a breakthrough in talks.

Football Insider revealed on 27 August that Forest were considering Marco Silva for the manager role, but the Cottagers boss was too expensive and too difficult to prise out of the London outfit.

Therefore, Evangelos Marinakis opted for Postecoglou to replace Nuno, as he is out of work, available, and there will be no compensation fee.

Ange Postecoglou set for immediate Premier League return

Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham back in June, but just three months later, he is set to make a return to Premier League management.

The Australian's last act at Spurs was to lead his side to Europa League glory, beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final.

However, it wasn't enough for the North London club's hierarchy, with Tottenham's 17th-place finish in the Premier League ultimately costing Postecoglou his job.

Nottingham Forest will compete in the Europa League this season, which will give the former Spurs and Celtic boss a chance to win the competition for the second year in a row.

Man United eye Nottingham Forest star

That is according to their former chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 22-year-old is seen as the “ideal” option for Ruben Amorim‘s midfield.

Following Anderson’s man-of-the-match display for England against Andorra on 6 September, United believe he ticks all the boxes to play a key role in their squad.

Nottingham Forest are fearful of losing Anderson amid growing interest following Anthony Elanga’s move to Newcastle in July while clubs track their other key stars.
