Nottingham Forest will sack manager Nuno Espirito Santo if his crisis talks with Evangelos Marinakis break down, sources have told Football Insider.

Nuno's future at the City Ground is in doubt, after the Portuguese manager revealed he had fallen out with controversial owner Marinakis.

It is believed that the 51-year-old is unhappy with the club's transfer business this summer, and hasn't seen eye to eye with the new recruitment chief Edu Gaspar.

There have been talks between all parties regarding the situation, but sources say that if the issues cannot be resolved, then Nuno will likely be dismissed.

Nuno Espirito Santo expected to stay at Nottingham Forest

Despite the fact that Marinakis will have no problem sacking Nuno if the situation is not amended, as it stands, the Forest manager is expected to stay at the club.

The former Wolves and Tottenham boss led the Trentside outfit to an impressive seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, clinching European football.

Nuno has insisted that he wants to remain in charge at Nottingham Forest despite the unhappiness behind the scenes, and there is no indication so far that anything has changed.

However, if performances and results on the pitch take a downward turn, then Marinakis would be very quick to pull the trigger.

Nottingham Forest eye Nuno Espirito Santo replacement

Meanwhile, Marco Silva is “unhappy” at Fulham and is in firm contention to be the next Nottingham Forest manager, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed last week that Silva is Forest’s top target to replace Nuno if he is sacked.

It is now believed that the London club’s longstanding manager is not happy and would be interested in another Premier League post.

Like Nuno, Silva is represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, who do a lot of player trading with Marinakis and his clubs, including Forest.
