Sources: Tottenham close in on new manager after three-man shortlist presented
Tottenham are confident of appointing a new manager next week after narrowing down their shortlist to three names, Football Insider can reveal.
The Londoners have made progress in recent days following further interviews and talks at the end of a wide-ranging process that has taken in managers in the Premier League and overseas.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider the club are expected to be in a position to announce their new manager soon after Sunday's Premier League finale.
The board led by chairman Daniel Levy have been presented with a three-man shortlist after various contenders were whittled down or struck off.
Those were for various reasons including unavailability or because they were deemed unsuitable.
Levy revealed in an open letter to supporters in midweek that the next manager will be "someone whose values reflect those of our great club".
Key requirements include a commitment to "free-flowing, attacking and entertaining" football while developing "young players from our academy alongside experienced talent".
Tottenham have suffered complications in luring well-established Premier League managers including the likes of Brendan Rodgers.
Nuno Espirito Santo's departure from Wolves on Friday offered the possibility he could be headed to north London.
But Football Insider has been told that is not the case as his agent Jorge Mendes has instead lined him up for a new job elsewhere.
Tottenham have searched both overseas and domestically for a more readily-available domestic manager.
More experienced Premier League operators like Roberto Martinez and Rafael Benitez have had discussions.
This site revealed last week that Martinez has made a “huge play” for the vacant post behind the scenes and he figures on the shortlist.
