Nicolo Savona might have played his last game for Nottingham Forest as new move readied

Nicolo Savona looks to be on his way out of Nottingham Forest this summer as they line up a move to sign Galatasaray right-back Roland Sallai.

Forest were able to avoid relegation with relative ease under Vitor Pereira and are now looking ahead to a more successful 2026-27 campaign.

The Reds boss is set to be offered a new contract soon before he fronts their summer business, with Sallai on his radar as a potential addition.

Talk of the Hungary international moving to the City Ground could well point to Savona being set to leave Forest in the coming months.

He has struggled for regular game time since joining due to a lack of form and injury issues, and could be set to depart Forest after just one season.

Forest would be signing Roland Sallai to replace Nicolo Savona

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Forest are readying a move for Sallai as they look to back Pereira in the next window.

Galatasaray are willing to do all they can to keep hold of the versatile 29-year-old, but even if the Reds fail in a move for Sallai, it is clear that they are targeting a new right-back addition this summer.

Sallai would undoubtedly arrive to provide competition to clear first-choice right-back Ola Aina, leaving doubts around Savona’s future at the club.

The 23-year-old showed glimpses of his ability in his first season at Forest, but seems unlikely to ever overtake Aina and is yet to even feature under Pereira.

He has been out injured since January and did not even feature in their three Premier League matches prior to picking up a serious knee problem.

Savona has not been able to do enough to force his way into the Portuguese manager’s plans for next term, and may never play for Forest again.

Who has been linked to Savona ahead of the summer window?

Savona was a regular for Juventus in the season before he joined Forest, and has three caps for Italy’s under-21 side.

His stock unsurprisingly remains high in Serie A, with top journalist Alfredo Pedulla recently reporting that Atalanta are keen on a move for Savona this summer.

They are set to proceed with a move for the 23-year-old if Marco Palestra leaves to join Inter Milan, and Savona will surely be tempted to move back to his home country rather than sit on the sidelines in the East Midlands.
