Nottingham Forest ready ‘ambitious’ Roland Sallai move as Galatasaray face struggle to keep star

Nottingham Forest are lining up a move for Galatasaray right-back Roland Sallai as part of another busy summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds will be well-backed by owner Evangelos Marinakis once again, and they already have an “ambitious” move for the 29-year-old on their radar ahead of next term.

However, Galatasaray are not willing to give up their star without a fight, and sources have indicated that they will do “everything they can” to try to keep hold of him for next season.

The Turkish giants will not encourage offers for the Hungarian this summer, and that is a stumbling block that the East Midlands outfit will need to overcome if they are to get their man.

Nottingham Forest’s transfer plans are set to see them strengthen a squad that struggled at times this term, as they are adamant that they cannot face another relegation battle next time around.

How much would Nottingham Forest have to pay for Roland Sallai?

Sallai has been on the radar of Premier League clubs on several occasions in recent years, and now it is Forest who are the latest club working to try to bring him to England.

He gained ample experience in the Bundesliga across a six-year stint with Freiburg, before moving to Galatasaray in 2024, where he has since gained a taste of Champions League football.

The full-back played 12 games in Europe’s premier club competition this season, which contributed towards an impressive tally of 47 appearances in all competitions.

His top-level experience is a driving factor behind Forest’s interest, and it is also another reason why a deal will not come cheaply for them this summer.

Reports in Turkey have suggested that it would take a fee of at least £21million to even tempt Galatasaray into discussions this summer, but they remain reluctant to do business.

Everton insider speaks on Neco Williams to the Toffees

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider earlier this week that Everton are not in pole position to sign Neco Williams this summer, after a host of clubs have taken interest in the Forest star.

The Wales international has been heavily linked with a departure from the City Ground in recent weeks, but is unlikely to be Everton who get him, with Wyness feeling that he wouldn’t improve the Toffees’ squad.

The Scottish businessman suggested that Williams would not be a “game-changer” in terms of the squad’s performance next term, and feels that his former club are on a hiding to nothing with their interest.

Forest will be hoping that ultimately proves to be the case, as they will not want to lose a player who has been a key figure for them across a number of positions in recent years.
