Nottingham Forest can humiliate Tottenham again with Morgan Gibbs-White agreement

Nottingham Forest must prioritise agreeing another new contract with Morgan Gibbs-White this summer to ward off renewed interest in his services from Tottenham Hotspur.

Gibbs-White won huge plaudits for delivering consistently impressive performances for Forest throughout the 2025-26 season.

The former Wolves playmaker will be disappointed that he missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad after having the best campaign of his career so far.

He was close to joining Tottenham last summer after they triggered his £60million release clause, but the Reds quickly tied him down to a new three-year contract to embarrass their Premier League rivals.

Spurs are now eyeing Gibbs-White again ahead of the upcoming transfer window, but Forest must use all of their financial might to make sure that they repeat their humiliation of the North London club.

Nottingham Forest have to accelerate new Morgan Gibbs-White contract to fend off Spurs again

Gibbs-White picked up the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for April after scoring four goals and providing an assist in just three matches.

He ended the season as the highest English scorer in the top flight, with 15 strikes, and has seen his stock rise massively throughout the campaign.

Spurs were left humiliated after the 26-year-old signed a new contract at Forest last summer after they had agreed a deal and scheduled a medical for him to move to North London.

Leading journalist Miguel Delaney has now reported that Tottenham are set to reignite their interest in his services ahead of this summer.

It remains to be seen if he is keen on a move to Spurs, but Forest must quash any exit talk once more by handing him another new deal.

Gibbs-White has proven his quality over the last 12 months even more than he did in 2024-25, and does have just two years left on his current contract.

Accelerating fresh terms for the 26-year-old could end up as the Reds’ only option to make sure that they are not the ones left humiliated as he leaves for Tottenham.

What did Gibbs-White say about his failed Spurs move?

Sources have told Football Insider that Evangelos Marinakis has no plans to sell Gibbs-White this summer, especially with Elliot Anderson likely to move on.

He was open and honest about his reasons for staying at Forest last summer in an interview with talkSPORT, saying: “Every footballer has personal goals and personal ambitions that they want to achieve. Mine is winning trophies, playing in the World Cup, playing in the Euros, playing Champions League football, just to be able to reach the maximum that I’m able to reach.

“Obviously in the summer, everybody saw what was going on and whatever, but away from that, it was a really difficult period for me and my fiancee. Having my second child, but there were a few complications with all of that.

“I believed in being professional, showing up every day and letting everything else take care of what it needs to do. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I

“‘m delighted with my decision, more than happy. I think my fiancee is even more happy because she didn’t get to carry on with all the stress.”

Forest should be confident that they can tie the 26-year-old down to another new deal this summer, especially after some improved form under Vitor Pereira that could continue into next season.
