Nottingham Forest: Morgan Gibbs-White’s valuation ‘will only go up’ as Evangelos Marinakis has clear transfer stance
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will have no desire to let Morgan Gibbs-White leave the club this summer.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, who believes Marinakis will only be willing to sell Elliot Anderson in the transfer window.
The Tricky Trees were close to losing Gibbs-White to Tottenham last summer, but Marinakis’ intervention stopped any deal from happening.
The 26-year-old signed a new three-year deal at the club just weeks later, and the midfielder is playing a pivotal role in keeping Nottingham Forest above the Premier League relegation zone this season.
With Nottingham Forest expected to lose Anderson this summer, Gibbs-White would be another major blow to manager Vitor Pereira, and his hopes of strengthening the squad.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Gibbs-White is “happy” at Nottingham Forest and may not be wanting to leave.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states that the midfielder’s valuation will only increase further if he helps Nottingham Forest win the Europa League.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “He’s not going anywhere.
“It was a three-year contract that they got resolved last year, so I think he’s fine. The way he’s playing, Forest will not want to part with him, and they’ll be happy to keep him.
“Marinakis is going to be looking at Elliott Anderson as the only transfer that they would do. I don’t think he’ll be letting Morgan Gibbs-White go, and he seems happy.
“If they do get a win over Villa, and if he is a major part in that, his valuation will only go up, and then he might get sold at the end of next season, but I don’t see anything happening this season.”
Nottingham Forest to reignite pursuit in Belgian midfielder
If Nottingham Forest do lose both Anderson and Gibbs-White, then the club will certainly need to sign a new midfielder in the transfer window.
The club had strongly pursued Celtic star Arne Engels in January, with three bids, including one worth up to £25million, all rejected by the Glasgow side.
However, former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest remain keen on signing Engels this summer.
With Celtic having more time to source a replacement in the summer, and with Nottingham Forest in a potentially stronger financial position, a deal could be agreed between the two clubs.
