Nottingham Forest could be about to lose £29m as Premier League prize money revealed
Nottingham Forest could be set to lose more than £29million in prize money following their performances in the Premier League this season.
Forest have endured a disappointing campaign domestically after being involved in the relegation battle at the bottom of the top-flight table.
It comes after the Reds finished seventh in the Premier League last season, earning them £152.5m in prize money and a Europa League place.
Although Vitor Pereira’s side have now avoided relegation, they currently sit 16th in the table.
Wolves banked £123.1m in prize money for finishing 16th last season, meaning Forest could be about to lose £29.4m if they fail to improve on their current position.

It’s been a turbulent campaign at the City Ground after Pereira became their fourth manager of the season in February, with Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche all relieved of their duties over the past nine months.
While Forest can mathematically still finish above ninth-place Chelsea, that is an extremely unlikely scenario heading into the final two games of the season.
| Financial metric | 2023-24 | 2024-25 |
| Commercial revenue | £30m | £39m |
| Broadcast revenue | £130m | £159m |
| Matchday revenue | £14m | £20m |
| Total revenue | £190m | £222m |
| Pre-tax loss | £12m | £71m |
| Wages | £166m | £167m |
However, 13th remains a realistic target, with Newcastle United sitting just three points above the East Midlands club in a bunched-up bottom half of the table.
Forest are set to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday (17 May), where they will be looking to extend their eight-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Pereira’s side will then play host to Bournemouth on the final day at the City Ground, where the sixth-place Cherries could secure Champions League qualification if Aston Villa win the Europa League.
How Nottingham Forest have mitigated Premier League losses
Forest have mitigated their loss in Premier League payments following their performances in the Europa League this season.
The Reds reached the semi-finals of the second-tier European competition before being beaten 4-1 on aggregate by Villa, who will now face Freiburg in the final on 20 May.
Forest banked around £21m in prize money from the Europa League prior to their exit, having surpassed expectations on the road to the final four.
That will ensure the club’s revenue remains at a similar level for the campaign after improving their financial situation over the past couple of years at the City Ground.
Forest published their accounts for last season in March, showing their revenue increased from £190m in 2023-24 to £222m, marking a new club record.
