Nottingham Forest: Door opens for Wilson Isidor to ditch Sunderland for City Ground

Nottingham Forest are chasing a new striker this summer transfer window to help bolster their attacking options.

With a 4-4-2 formation now preferred, the club are set to be short on quality strikers, with Lorenzo Lucca expected to depart and Chris Wood not getting any younger.

One player the Tricky Trees have looked at before is Wilson Isidor, who was a major player in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League.

The striker has struggled for game time at the Black Cats this season, and now The Sun on 5 May has confirmed that the club are willing to offload him this summer.

Given his experience in the Premier League and his clinical nature, Nottingham Forest could have a bargain on their hands.

Wilson Isidor would be an excellent buy for Nottingham Forest

One thing Forest have struggled with this season is a striker who can come off the bench and have an impact.

Lucca has not delivered on this front, while Igor Jesus had struggled in the Premier League until recently.

While Isidor has not exactly shone for Sunderland, when called upon, he usually gets a goal.

So far this season, he is averaging 0.40 goals per game in the Premier League, which could make him the perfect impact striker.

With it also suggested that Sunderland could lower their £25million asking price for Isidor this summer, now is perhaps the perfect chance for Forest to revive their previous interest.

Who else are Nottingham Forest linked to?

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Forest are chasing Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney this summer.

The Boro midfielder has helped guide the club to the playoffs as they eye a return to the Premier League.

However, if they are unable to win promotion, all eyes point towards a departure, with Brown insisting that it would be impossible for Middlesbrough to keep hold of Hackney in the Championship.

Nevertheless, if they were to win promotion, Boro would be confident of keeping their star man ready for their return to the top-flight.

As a result, a key few weeks await both Middlesbrough and Forest as they both look to have Hackney in their squad for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
