Nottingham Forest: Evangelos Marinakis now has the chance to do what he’s failed to do before
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis must seek stability at the club next season after they secured their Premier League status.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, who believes Marinakis needs to start giving people a chance at the club.
Nottingham Forest have sacked three managers this season, whilst there has been uncertainty over Edu’s position at the club as global head of football throughout the campaign.
Vitor Pereira, Nottingham Forest’s fourth manager of the season, has managed to ensure the club will remain in the top flight, whilst he also led them to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
Nottingham Forest are preparing their summer transfer plans in a bid to return to the top half of the table next season, with the ambitious Marinakis expected to back Pereira in the market.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Marinakis must stop sacking managers at the “first sign of things going wrong.”
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states that Marinakis needs stability in order for the club to fulfil its potential.
| Goals Per Match | 1.3 |
| Goals Conceded Per Match | 1.3 |
| Clean Sheets | 9 |
| Average Possession | 46.7% |
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Marinakis has got to decide himself on the football side, certainly in terms of sporting directors and the whole Edu situation.
“It’s all got to be cleaned up as well. There’s got to be stability. Now, stability and Marinakis don’t normally come together in the same sentence, but this time he’s got to try and find that.
“At the first sign of things going wrong this season, I can’t remember how many managers he went through and how quickly Nottingham Forest went through them, but he’s got to stop those impulses himself.
“That stability has got to come from the top. He’s got a chance now. They’re coming off a decent European run. They’ve got themselves back in the Premier League next season. There’s a new stadium project.
“But Marinakis has got to start getting it right and sticking with people and giving them the chance to move forward. He’s got a chance to do it.”
Nottingham Forest set to make huge profit
Nottingham Forest are braced for the departure of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City this summer, although it will provide the Tricky Trees with a financial boost.
Former Man City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest could make a £90million player-trading profit from the sale of Anderson.
That will hand Marinakis and Pereira with the tools to add to the squad, with a new midfielder expected to be a priority when Anderson leaves.
Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney has been linked with a move to the City Ground, though the 23-year-old could have plenty of other offers to consider this summer.
