Dan Ndoye proves Nottingham Forest doubters wrong, Switzerland stats speak volumes
Dan Ndoye's fantastic performance for Switzerland against Spain has shown why he should continue to be a regular starter for Nottingham Forest.
Ndoye, 25, starred in Switzerland's 3-0 win over Scotland at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.
The versatile winger has struggled to ever make a consistent impact at Nottingham Forest since joining from Bologna last year.
He produced some less-than-encouraging performances for the Reds before the international break as fans questioned his place in the starting eleven.
Oliver Glasner will surely stick by him when club football returns, after Ndoye's latest strong showing for his country proved that he can be key to Forest's plans this season.
The 25-year-old needs to continue his strong form to keep starting under Glasner with the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Igor Jesus waiting for their chance.
Stats show that Dan Ndoye was exceptional vs Scotland away from Forest
Ndoye only registered three goal contributions for the Reds last season as he was linked with a move away to the likes of Roma and Inter Milan in the summer.
Glasner pushed to retain his services ahead of his first season in charge, and he has started all five of their league games so far, scoring once.
The international break has provided Ndoye with the chance to build some confidence after a slow start to the campaign.
He registered two assists for Switzerland against Scotland on Tuesday, while also winning the free-kick that saw Ricardo Rodriguez open the scoring.
Ndoye also had the most touches (12) in the opposition box of any player and completed the joint-most (3) dribbles, while creating two other chances and also winning the joint-most (7) ground duels.
He will certainly be pleased with the performance, as will Glasner as he keeps an eye on his players' international showings before Forest return to action next month.
Swiss media full of praise for Ndoye vs Scotland
Ndoye has emerged as a key man for his country after a strong World Cup campaign saw him net twice in six appearances out in North America.
His latest performance has been praised by their national media, with Swiss outlet Homme du Match handing him top marks as they wrote: "An exceptional performance from the Swiss striker, who was involved, directly or indirectly, in all of his team’s goals. Unstoppable, inspired and a constant threat, he proved a real thorn in the side of the Scottish defence.
"It was a standout performance in which he showcased his pace, his ability to drive forward and his knack for making the right decisions at crucial moments."
While Bote also admired his directness and threat throughout the match in their post-match review, saying: "His speed can cause problems for any opponent in the world—as evidenced by the red card. He’s a bit too inconsistent in front of the goal. But he remains aggressive and sets up Amdouni for 3-0."
