'One of the best' - Finance Expert: Premier League clubs have 'missed a trick' with Nottingham Forest star

Nottingham Forest and Oliver Glasner have defied the odds by keeping "one of the best" Premier League players this season.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Reds are destined to lose a big-name star next summer.

Elliot Anderson was the only major exit at the City Ground this summer, having been joined by Taiwo Awoniyi, Omari Hutchinson and Dilane Bakwa.

And despite the strong links, Morgan Gibbs-White stayed put alongside the River Trent, even with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United pushing for his signature.

Bayern Munich are the latest team to emerge in the race for the England international's signature, and the Tricky Trees may be witnessing his final few games in a Forest shirt.

Mick Brown has told Football Insider that the Reds are doing everything possible to keep him, but they may be facing a losing battle over the coming months.

Morgan Gibbs-White will 'probably' leave next summer

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson believes this will be Gibbs-White's final season at Forest, surprised that he hasn't left already.

"I have to say, I think the other clubs in the Premier League have really missed a trick, given that he's been in play for the last two summers.

"And two summers ago he had a release clause. I think he's one of the best players that's not moved. Next summer is probably when he will move.

"I know it's not going to be popular with Forest fans, but he's going to be 27. And I just think that if you're Nottingham Forest, you go, 'This is our window to get proper value for him'."

Gibbs-White is currently valued at £60million, but there is no doubt that Evangelos Marinakis would want considerably more to part ways with the superstar.

Will Nottingham Forest be forced into big-name sales?

Forest have done well to avoid any further financial issues, and that can certainly be put down to Anderson's £115m away in the summer.

However, speaking to Football Insider, Keith Wyness believes that the Reds could be forced into some big sales after creating a backlog of payments.

Marinakis has vowed to invest into the City Ground's development, and that figure is expected to rise to upwards of £790m.

While the owner has a desire to pump more cash into the club, not even that is likely to stop a European giant from coming along and snatching Gibbs-White next summer.
