Nottingham Forest 'doing everything' to block Morgan Gibbs-White transfer

Nottingham Forest are doing everything in their power to prevent Morgan Gibbs-White from leaving the club in the near future.

The 26-year-old has long been linked with a move away from the City Ground, but Forest have always resisted advances, and he penned a new long-term deal last summer.

Questions have been asked about the midfielder's early-season performances under Oliver Glasner, but he remains a crucial part of the new manager's long-term plans.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest have no doubts about Gibbs-White's future and are convinced he will stay.

There had also been suggestions that he may have to leave for a bigger club in pursuit of a regular England place, but he was then included as a late addition to Thomas Tuchel's side.

Forest, meanwhile, have been clear with any potential suitors that Gibbs-White will not be for sale in the near future despite interest from the likes of Tottenham and Man United.

Could Nottingham Forest cash in on Morgan Gibbs-White?

Football Insider revealed on 21 September that Nottingham Forest are preparing to ward off any interest in Gibbs-White and could even offer him another contract extension.

The England international turned down a move to Tottenham last summer in favour of remaining at the City Ground

Tottenham's interest remains strong, however, while the likes of Man United and Bayern Munich are also keen, but Nottingham Forest have no plans to let him go.

"Nottingham Forest have been clear about letting Gibbs-White go," Brown told Football Insider.

"I don't think he's had the best start to the season by any means, but with the new manager coming in, I think that will just need time for everybody to adapt and adjust.

"It looked like he wasn't going to be involved in the England squad, and that was probably a bit of a concern for him, then you get people saying he might have to join a bigger club.

"I don't think that's the case at all, and from Nottingham Forest's point of view, they certainly wouldn't agree with those suggestions.

"They will be doing everything in their power to keep hold of him, regardless of who might be interested, and we've already seen how far they're willing to go.

"Nottingham Forest are going to shut down any suggestions he could move on, they're not interested in losing him, and as far as they are concerned that's the end of it."

How does Gibbs-White feel about leaving Nottingham Forest?

Despite Nottingham Forest's clear reluctance to lose their best player in the near future, much will depend on how Gibbs-White feels about staying at the City Ground.

While he has been happy to remain a Nottingham Forest player, there have now been suggestions that he could assess his options if the club's on-pitch struggles continue.

Football Insider revealed on 24 September that Gibbs-White could look to leave Nottingham Forest in favour of playing Champions League football, which he is "desperate" to do.

The attacking midfielder is understood to be happy to stay at the City Ground if they can secure European football again, but is likely to look elsewhere if not.

After five Premier League games this season, Forest have won just once, leading to pressure on the manager and now an increased demand for their form to turn.
