Elliot Anderson sends two-word message to Vitor Pereira amid emotional Nottingham Forest goodbye
Elliot Anderson has sent Vitor Pereira a message on social media after his former manager penned a goodbye to the Nottingham Forest fans.
The 57-year-old was ruthlessly dismissed at the end of last month and replaced by Oliver Glasner, despite having led the team away from relegation.
The former Wolves boss also led the Tricky Trees to the Europa League semi-final, winning eight of the 20 games he took charge of after his February appointment.
Pereira got form out of his team where Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche could not, but Nottingham Forest evidently feared a repeat of his time at Molineux.
The Portuguese manager had performed a similar job to keep Wolves up, but saw his side completely collapse in his second season.
Anderson was a key part of Pereira's team, with his performances at the back-end of the season undoubtedly contributing to Manchester City's willingness to pay a record £116million.
Elliot Anderson thanks Vitor Pereira
Nottingham Forest's appeal behind the appointment of Glasner is undoubtedly understandable.
The Austrian led Crystal Palace to their first-ever major trophy when they won the FA Cup in 2025, and he left them with European glory by lifting the Conference League in May.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt manager's teams are exciting to watch and wherever he goes, silverware tends to follow.
That will do nothing to stop Pereira from feeling hard done by the decision, which comes after he guided Nottingham Forest to Premier League safety.
The 56-year-old took to Instagram to share a message with the fans on Saturday and wrote that "this club will always have a special place in my heart."
Anderson commented on the post and simply wrote: "Thank you".
Evangelos Marinakis uncertainty may be Nottingham Forest's downfall
Pereira's goodbye message to Nottingham Forest contains a truly extraordinary amount of class, considering the way he was dismissed.
As per The Athletic, the manager reportedly received an email at 11:58pm on the last day of June, informing him that his contract was being terminated via a clause that would expire in just two minutes.
Pereira had been under the impression that he was going to be getting a new contract, but Evangelos Marinakis had eyed an opportunity and made an impulse decision.
That seems to be a move that entirely sums up the Nottingham Forest owner, and the consequences are often laid on others to shoulder.
Marinakis undoubtedly wants his club to succeed, but is his him who appears to be holding them back at times, and Glasner will be the latest to contend with him.
