Luis Suarez's 100th percentile and 8.31 stats prove he can dazzle for Nottingham Forest

Luis Suarez can be the striker to fire Nottingham Forest back into European football as they reportedly eye a move for his services.

Suarez has emerged onto Nottingham Forest's radar as they look to add real firepower to Oliver Glasner's forward line before the transfer window slams shut.

French outlet L'Équipe have claimed that Forest have opened talks with Sporting CP to land his services before next week's deadline.

The Colombian international excelled for the Portuguese giants last season as he impressively replaced Viktor Gyokeres output in front of goal.

He has also been targeted by Barcelona, and his stats from last term highlight just how big of a coup he would be for the Reds this summer.

Forest are looking to return to European qualification spots under Glasner, and his arrival would surely boost them into contention for the season ahead.

Suarez ended the 2025-26 campaign with 28 goals in 32 league games as Sporting finished second, while he netted five times in 12 Champions League appearances.

He has emerged onto Barcelona's radar as a result, while sources revealed to Football Insider earlier in the summer that Newcastle were keen on signing Suarez too.

The 28-year-old will not be available for a small fee this week, but his stats show that he would be able to take Forest to the next level and to European football once again.

Suarez was among the best Champions League strikers for big chances created per 90 (0.38), duels won per 90 (5.93), percentage of aerial duels won (53.7%) and fouls won per 90 (2.64).

He was inevitably among the top performers in the Portuguese top flight too, with 4.54 shots on target per 90 (97th percentile), 0.43 big chances created per 90 (91st percentile) and 8.31 touches in the opposition box per 90 (100th percentile).

Forest fans should certainly be excited about their potential move for Suarez, although the finances involved could be a stumbling block.

Footballing icon Ronaldo knows a top striker when he sees one, and he backed Suarez to shine at his old club Sporting last summer after Gyokeres had joined Arsenal.

Speaking to reporters about the situation, he said: "Gyokeres was a special player, but the team will have to adapt. I believe Suarez, who arrived from Almeria, is an excellent forward."
