Morgan Gibbs-White has been nominated for the Premier League player of the month award for April after a superb month at Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder has been in staggeringly good form, registering five goals and one assist in just his last three games across all competitions.

Nottingham Forest went unbeaten in April, winning three of five games and qualifying for the Europa League semi-final after beating FC Porto.

But Gibbs-White has undoubtedly been the standout, and the England international should join Chris Wood in bringing the Premier League player of the month award back to the City Ground.

The Nottingham Forest captain will hope his form continues for his team's potentially final seven games, with a chance for European glory on the line.

The stats behind Morgan Gibbs-White's brilliant April

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Nottingham Forest are confident of keeping Gibbs-White at the club this summer, despite mounting interest.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant season and looks to be playing himself into a late dash for Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad.

The midfielder was left out of the squad but will be incredibly hard to ignore in his current form, especially considering that the likes of Phil Foden are struggling for minutes.

Gibbs-White's goals over the last month have seen Nottingham Forest's situation improve immeasurably in the Premier League.

His hat-trick against Burnley single-handedly won Vitor Pereira's side the game, and he was heavily involved in several goals against Sunderland.

On top of four goals, in his three league appearances in April, Gibbs-White has recorded 11 recoveries, won eight duels, taken 10 shots and had 12 touches in the opposition box.

He has been rewarded with a nomination for player of the month for April, alongside Jarrod Bowen, Rayan Cherki, Pascal Gross, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Noah Okafor and Nico O'Reilly.

Just one other Nottingham Forest player has won Premier League player of the month - Wood in October 2024.

Thomas Tuchel cannot ignore Gibbs-White

The last England squad was said to be focused on giving players the chance to impress Tuchel ahead of this summer's selection for the World Cup.

Gibbs-White was not called up, despite having been in the group that played Wales, Serbia and Andorra in September.

While Tuchel may not have been convinced then, he surely has reconsidered his options in the weeks since.

Gibbs-White is playing out of his skin, and would be a major miss for England if he is not on the plane heading to North America this summer.
