Swiss media rate Nottingham Forest's Dan Ndoye after his display vs Colombia
Dan Ndoye’s sensational performance for Switzerland was praised by the media after their penalty victory against Colombia.
The Swiss reached their first quarter-finals in a World Cup since 1954 after they beat the South American nation on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
Switzerland had been tipped by many to go out in the round of 16, but multiple players stepped up to ensure they achieved a surprise victory.
Ndoye was one such star, with the Swiss media full of praise for the Nottingham Forest winger who “got stronger as the game went on”.
The 25-year-old has had an excellent 2026 World Cup to date, and netted in the 2-0 victory against Algeria last week to ensure they reached the round of 16.
Now, he has helped set up a quarter-final tie against Argentina, which will take place on Sunday.
Dan Ndoye rated as one of Switzerland’s best players vs Colombia
Ndoye may have had a tough 2025-26 season at Nottingham Forest, but he has come alive this World Cup.
So far, he has started in four out of five games for the Swiss, proving to be a menace up top for the opposition.
This continued against Colombia, with Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz struggling to contain the Forest man.
Upon reviewing his performance after the match, Swiss outlet Blue News gave the winger a 4.5/6 rating, before writing: “He's got speed, but so does his counterpart, Munoz.
“He gets a shot off in the 32nd minute, but the angle is too tight, and keeper Vargas makes the save without any trouble.
“He gets stronger as the game goes on. His day is done in the 92nd minute.”
How good was Ndoye vs Colombia?
According to Fotmob on 8 July, Ndoye had an excellent campaign against Colombia.
The winger had the most touches out of any player in the opposition box at seven, had two shots, completed 71 per cent of his passes, completed one dribble, made four interceptions and won eight ground duels.
Oliver Glasner will now be hoping that these types of performances can continue at the World Cup ahead of the new Premier League season.
If Ndoye can finally hit form at the City Ground, he could be a massive asset for the club and help push them away from the relegation zone and up the Premier League table.
However, it remains to be seen how the winger will perform for Forest in the 2026-27 campaign.
