Oliver Glasner is wasting no time as the new Nottingham Forest boss, as the owner continues to put his money where his mouth is.

Evangelos Marinakis has never been a stranger to splashing the cash since Forest's promotion to the Premier League, and this summer should be no different.

With Elliot Anderson joining Manchester City on a £116million deal, there are no excuses for the Reds not to heavily invest ahead of 2026-27.

Despite the available funds, it would appear that Forest's first signing of the summer will be Xaver Schlager on a free transfer after his contract expired at RB Leipzig.

Now, according to John Percy (16 July), Tottenham Hotspur have rejected Forest's initial £38m offer for Lucas Bergvall, who has emerged as a priority target.

Glasner's side are expected to make a second bid for the Sweden international, though Spurs want to hold out for £50m this summer.

Nottingham Forest mean serious business this summer

Forest had been seriously considering a move for Curtis Jones, but sources have told Football Insider that the Liverpool star has fallen down the pecking order of potential signings.

Percy has also revealed that Glasner wants at least four new signings before the 2026-27 campaign kicks off, including a new centre-back.

The former Crystal Palace boss intends to play with a three-back formation at the City Ground, and clearly feels that the squad isn't strong enough for that yet.

Following Anderson's exit, the Reds want to keep the majority of the current squad together, including the likes of Neco Williams and Ibrahim Sangare.

Both have been strongly linked with moves away, but it would appear that the full-back and midfield duo are edging closer to new deals instead.

Which other positions could Oliver Glasner improve?

The bid for Bergvall makes complete sense, with Anderson's move to Man City leaving a gaping hole in the squad ahead of next season.

Supporters' biggest worry has been in the full-back department, though. While Williams and Ola Aina are talented, there isn't nearly enough depth.

Forest are now being linked with Fiorentina's Dodo and Feyenoord's Givairo Read, and either would bring plenty of experience to the squad.

But until Glasner can solve the current problem in the centre of midfield, it seems foolish to waste funds on other positions at the City Ground.
