Nottingham Forest inform Man City how to structure Elliot Anderson deal after offer made
Manchester City have been told Nottingham Forest will not budge over their £125million demand for Elliot Anderson this summer.
Forest snubbed City's offer totalling around £120million this week, and instead plan to receive a British record fee, with the majority of the sum paid up front.
That asking price has forced rivals Man United out of the race, and while City are planning to hold new talks with the City Ground club, they are standing firm.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Nottingham Forest will not budge on their asking price despite Man City planning to negotiate.
Evangelos Marinakis has shown in the past he can be a tough negotiator and will not budge on his stance, which will force interested clubs to consider their options.
While Anderson is believed to be keen on the move to Man City, they will first have to strike a deal with Forest, but any suggestions of a discount have been dismissed.
Could Man City pay a record fee for Elliot Anderson?
Former financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 6 June that Man City expected their offer for Anderson to be accepted given the size of the fee involved.
There have been suggestions that Forest will face a punishment from UEFA for breaching football earning rules, and Anderson's sale col
However, that does not mean they are prepared to accept a discounted fee, and instead plan to stand by their record-breaking demands.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Forest are being pretty steadfast on what they want for Elliot Anderson.
"As you said, they want that British record fee of £125million and they want pretty much all of it up front as well.
"They're not going to accept anything with these big add-ons and bonuses like Man City have offered, they want as much money as they can get for Elliot Anderson.
"Man City will want to bring that fee down, but Nottingham Forest are standing by their valuation.
"They're entitled to do that, he's still under contract until 2029 and Nottingham Forest don't want to lose him for any less than their asking price."
Do Man City have alternatives in mind to Anderson?
Amid suggestions Man City could miss out on Anderson if they are not willing to meet Forest's lofty demands, they may be forced to consider other options.
A number of targets have been considered by City's recruitment team, and while the Forest star remains their number-one target, they have looked elsewhere.
Football Insider revealed in March that Man City are eyeing a move to sign Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund if they are priced out of a move to sign Anderson.
Hamburg-born Nmecha spent 14 years at City between 2007 and 2021, and made three appearances for their senior side before being released and joining Wolfsburg.
He made the move to Dortmund in 2023 and has since gone on to play over 100 times for the club, with City now alert to his potential availability this summer.
